EE221 Linear Circuits

Catalog Description: EE 221 Linear Circuits R-3, C-3.
Prerequisites: ES 250 (Electrical Science).
Steady state response of linear circuits to both sinusoidal and periodic inputs. AC steady state power. Magnetically coupled circuits. Network functions, gain and phase shift. Bode plots. Fourier series. Laplace transform. The relationship between time and frequency domain solutions. (Each Semester)

Learning Objectives: Students will be able to

  1. Perform analysis of second and higher order circuits
  2. Compute the response of circuits using time domain techniques
  3. Compute the response of circuits using frequency domain techniques
  4. Analyze magnetically coupled circuits
  5. Perform ac steady state circuit analysis and power calculations
  6. Use Laplace Transforms and Fourier series in circuit analysis
  7. Use appropriate software for circuit analysis
