Here is a circuit that contains a Voltage Controlled Voltage Source (VCVS). The gain of the VCVS can be changed using the scrollbar.
When the gain of the VCVS is equal to 4 V/V this is the circuit considered in problem P2.7-4 of
Introduction to Electric Circuits, 7e by R.C. Dorf and J.A. Svoboda. In problem P2.7-4 the gain of the VCVS is denoted by the symbol b. Then
where b is the gain of the dependent source. Notice that the units of b are V/V. The voltages Va and Vb, both in Volts, are measured using the voltmeters. Thus the gain of the dependent source can be determined from the meter readings.
