Three-Dimensional Comprehensive Oil Spill Model

A comprehensive mathematical model was developed to simulate fate and transport of oil spilled in the ocean. The model is three-dimensional and includes all major physico-chemical processes that oil spills undergo. It can simulate the oil budget - Evaporated; Dissolved; Dispersed; Oil on Surface; Oil in Water column.

The model is capable of simulating both surface spills as well as deep water oil jets. The model is intended to be used for environmental impact assessment, decision making during emergencies and contingency planning.

The Model is capable of simulating: oil well blowout or pipeline rupture (oil/gas, oil pr gas only); Surface or near surface oil spills.
