Preface

The Holon Academic Institute of Technology (HAIT) is an institution of higher learning that specializes in the scientific, professional, social and cultural aspects of advanced technology.
      At present HAIT grants the following academic degrees:

  • B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering;
  • B.A. in Computer Sciences;
  • B.Sc. in Management of Technology;
  • B.Design in Industrial Design, Interior Design and Visual Communications Design.
HAIT has submitted to the Council for Higher Education several innovative new study programs for bachelor's degree and for master's degree. New study programs are expected to open shortly:
  • B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics for Industry;
  • B.A. in Education and Information Technologies;
  • M.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

HAITs Goals

  • Aspiring towards excellence in instruction and research at the cutting edge of technological development by identifying new spheres of knowledge, emerging interdisciplinary subjects and innovative instructional technologies.

  • Aspiring towards realization of students' intellectual and professional potential, and training personnel for careers in a constantly and rapidly changing technological world. HAIT offers a flexible range of opportunities to accommodate working students and enable the less affluent to maximize their self-fulfilment.

  • Fostering close ties with science-based industries for cooperation in research and applied technology.

  • Maintaining a highly regarded academic faculty and ensuring optimal conditions for professional and intellectual advancement.

Research in Exact Sciences and Technology

The HAIT faculty comprises about 200 faculty members; many of them engage in theoretical and applied research in the exact sciences and technology. Faculty members publish articles regularly in prestigious scientific journals and participate actively in international conferences. HAIT research is carried out in cooperation with the Weizmann Institute of Science, the Technion, Tel Aviv University and Ben Gurion University, as well as through collaborative agreements with universities and research institutes abroad.

Labs and Research Centers Recently Established:

  • Center for Materials Science and Engineering
  • Research Center for Quantum Communication Engineering
  • Real Time Embedded Systems Lab
  • Microwave Lab as basis for Broadband Communications Lab
  • Center for Computer-Aided Management of Ecosystems
  • Electro-magnetic Compatibility Lab
  • Center for Distance Learning
  • Research Center for Industrial and Applied Mathematics

HAIT initiates relationships with hi-tech industry, such as joint research ventures and cooperative efforts in the development of laboratory infrastructures and of study programs. Research ventures include a joint research with ECI Telecom on optical network transfer program analysis; research on lubricants based on nano-particles, carried out for the HAIT and Weizmann Institute start-up company ''Applied Nano Materials'', now carried out by Volkswagen; and the development of medical diagnostic equipment based on processing weak signals.
