1000 Islands Energy Research Forum

Bright people getting together to work on hard problems about sustainable energy

The TIERF meeting is an annual activity of the Great Lakes Sustainable Energy Consortium (GLSEC), a Canadian-US collaboration of academic and industry partners serving to foster technical research, public policy options, and commercial developments in sustainable energy strategies on both sides of the border.

The Syracuse Center of Excellence, along with its academic and industry partners (Clarkson University Cornell University, Syracuse University, SUNY ESF,) have joined in partnership with their Canadian academic colleagues (Queen's University, The Royal Military College, University of Ottawa) and industry to pursue collaborations along the I-81 Corridor through Central NY and Eastern Ontario.

Outcomes of the meetings include:

Call for Speakers and Posters

The 1000 Island Energy Research Forum (TIERF) draws on the traditions of the quarter century old 1000 Island Fluids Conference: a non-threatening arena for graduate students to present their research results to their peers and seasoned academic researchers.

The meeting is held in a very informal setting and is made affordable for students to pay their own way. The format has no parallel sessions with talks being 15 minutes in length to enable even first year graduate students to gain practice speaking in a public forum.

The format of this meeting will also encourage industry and business presentations and interaction with academia to pursue joint collaborations on sustainable energy and policy.
