[ course home page ]
This is a very simple demonstration journal that you can model your class demonstration journal on. Your initial journal pages should be similar. Don't do anything funky, even if you got the funk. I'm old, and funk confuses me. You'll have plenty of opportunities later to to show me pictures of your dog, or animated gifs, or little sparkles that follow the pointer when users move it around on the screen. For now at least, keep it simple.
You'll modify the layout and structure of your journal during the semester as you learn new techniques, but this will work as a starting point. The title of the journal (like above) should include your name, the course number, and "Demonstration Journal". The link immediately below the title should link back to the course home page. (I haven't actually put in a functioning link into this sample version because I'm using the same sample for several courses. But yours should link back to the course page.)
Since I need to keep track of so many individual journals online, your journal needs to be at URL that looks like this:
http://people.clarkson.edu/~YourUserID/comm999/journal/index.html
(Be sure to replace "YourUserID" and "comm999" with the appropriate user id and course number.) If you store your files in some other location or different filenaming convention, I won't grade them. You should store the individual journal entries inside the "journals" folder and link to them from the index below. We'll discuss how to set up this file and directory structure in class (as well as why this sort of structure is important when designing websites).
Note that the index below is in reverse-chronological order (newer entries are added to the top). The individual entries each need to provide a link back to this index (see one of the sample entries for a demonstration).
| Title of Entry | Date Entry Due | Description of Entry |
| DJ 2: Longer Demonstration Entry | 8.25.07 | A second entry that includes greeked filler text. |
| DJ 1: Short Demonstration Entry | 8.24.07 | An initial entry just to show a more or less empty page and link back to this index. |
