Singer-songwriter Elliot Smith, 34, was found dead Tuesday by his girlfriend in the Los Angeles apartment they shared. He apparently stabbed himself in the chest. Not to me morbid, but Smith never struck me as a violent-suicide type, more a pills or a running-car-closed-garage-door or just-fade-into-the-void type. Stabbing himself in the chest? No. Posted by johndan at October 22, 2003 05:48 PM | TrackBack
I didn't know E.S. very well, but his songs on the Good Will Hunting Soundtrack were absolutely moving. May God have mercy on his soul.
Posted by: Matt at November 1, 2003 09:26 PMhi. A year ago i was deppresed and i o.d. while listening to needle in the hay by elliot smith. im not a huge fa but the fact that he did that just really disturbs me...

Posted by: mike at November 8, 2003 02:06 AM steak knife to the heart? i bet that felt good.
i guess it's better than a butter knife!
That steve guy pisses me off, how crude and dull-hearted can you be. This guy was a damn good singer and you have no friggan right to say shit like that.
Posted by: joe at November 24, 2003 01:17 AMSteve how would you do it?
Posted by: free at November 24, 2003 04:53 PMi met him once. i said something complimentary and he was shy and self-deprecating; his m.o. it's heartbreaking. i wonder though, was it really a suicide? wouldn't he just have o.d.'d? i don't get it. but then, it's not for me to get. it pisses me off though. i adored him and turned a lot of people onto his music.
Posted by: christine at November 27, 2003 06:19 AMThe song Kiwi Maddog 20/20 says it all. BTW I'm a death metal drummer, but that song easily makes me weep
