I'm not quite sure how to frame a response to this image:

Clearly, we're supposed to understand this as someone from a "primative" culture attempting to join the "advanced" technical culture--and just missing the point (even barring the problem of cell tower coverage, clay's going to wreak havoc with the signal...).
Or is the image supposed to remind us that each age mistakenly sees its own as the ultimate pinnacle, like the ape/astronaut/newborn symbol pursued through 2001: A Space Odyssey?
