Electrical Micro/Nano characterization

Mechanical Characterization

  • Atomic Force Microscopy, NanoIndenter (?- probable acquisition- Hyzotron). 
  • Ultrasonic sonar for measurement of the Young’s modulus in relatively soft materials (Reviscometer, CK Electronic GmbH).

Spectroscopy

  • UV-VIS (Ocean Optics),
  • Fluroescent (including micro-fluorescent spectrometer) (Varian),
  • confocal Raman spectrometer (Renishaw) in combination with Nanonics AFM (Nanonics, Inc.)
  • Fiber-Optics Microspectrometer UV-VIS and Fluorescent (Nikon + Ocean Optics)

Optical Microscopy

  • Virtually all existing optical modes (Olympus, Nikon microscopes),
  • confocal laser scanning system (Nikon Eclipse C1) coupled with the AFM (BioScope II, NanoScope 5 by Veeco).

Sample preparation

  • Ultratome for TEM sample preparation (Nova),
  • Microtome,
  • Cryomicrotome (for gels and bio samples)
  • Plasma Sputter, Etcher, Cleaner (Hammer 6)
  • MicroManipulator station (Micromanipulator, Inc.)
  • Spin Coater
  • Contact Angle measurements
  • Furnaces: 1100C, 1700C (1 regular and 1 microfurnace with sapphire window), 3000C
