Objectives: To prepare mathematics students to
1. use statistical methods to solve practical problems, and
2. work with actual data sets.
Outcomes: At the end of the course the students should be able to
1. produce usable regression models from actual data sets,
2. convert practical problems into mathematical problems,
3. solve those mathematical problems, and
4. communicate the results to non-mathematicians.
Equipment: We will be using the program Minitab for the data analysis. It is available on the computers in the comupter labs. You may also wish to buy a personal copy to use on your home computer.
Exams: There will be no exams given in this course.
Grading: Your grades will be based on your contribution to the project throughout the semester.
