Study in Li-ion battery technology Higher energy Li-ion batteries are being recently considered for electric vehicles. However poor rapid discharge rate of Li-ion battery remains as an issue. Thin film electrodes have shown better rapid discharge rates than conventional thick film electrodes. Li-ion intercalation and de-interclation in different electrodes in different electrolytes are extensively analyzed with advanced electro-chemical techniques.

Study in (Electro)Chemical mechanical planarization Studies are being done on Chemical Mechinal Planarization (CMP) to indentify and improve the most efficient chemicals while limiting unwanted chemicals. Extension of CMP which is known as ElectroChemical Mechanical Planarization (ECMP) is studied for a potential methode for low K materials planerization.

Study in characterizing ionic liquids and its applications in supercapacitors Very low vapour pressure, very high temperature stability, large electro-chemical window and environmentaly benign characterisitics of ionic liquids have opened up wide variety of applications in energy storage, gas absorption and metal seperation technologies. Application of ionic liquids in supercapacitors with carbon nanotubes and Li-ion batteries are being investigated.
