I did most of the research work as an undergraduate student when I was at University Colombo, Sri Lanka under the guidance of Dr.Upul Sonnadara at Department of Physics. I focused on instrumentation and most of them were published locally. Some of my work is towards my final thesis and some of them are additional work to pass my leisure time. Some of my research work is listed here.

- Designed and implemented a complete data acquisition system through a computer parallel port. Software was written in Assembler and Delphi to get the maximum sampling speed. It has two ADCs, two DACs ,Digital gain controller with 5 steps, 8 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs. All the functions can be selected through written software interface.
- Designed and implemented a telephone interface, to protect telephone line interface devices from induced high voltages due to lightning by isolating the devices from the telephone lines physically by using a optical barrier. The interface is capable of handling any device available in the market.

- Designed and implemented a microcontroller based interface for a 80 character LCD for another project. (Basically software routines were implemented to use the LCD in parallel input mode)
(Interfacing an LCD to the parallel port is shown here)
- Designed and implemented fully buffered standalone large LED display unit with software to display and animate any kind of picture on it (any language character) with intensity control. Later the design was extended to use RGB LEDs but not implemented due to the cost of the RGB LEDs.
- Designed and implemented a interface with a microcontroller to store data on a PC hard disk without using a computer. Software was good enough to handle hard disks up to 136 GB.
- Apart from those projects I have done fun projects like Audio amplifiers, Equalizers , Remote control switches (IR and Radio with security codes for DC voltages as well as for 230 V), Radio transmitters (AM, FM and SW but not crystal controlled), Digital lock system, Home security system with remote dialing ,Equipment controllers through telephone lines, Digital clock with time schedule and alarm, Energy saving system, Road signaling system (non programmable), Color identification device, Model train set automation system (HO scale), Sound, Light (Visible and IR) and Motion activated switches, Visible and Laser light communication system, Device to emulate emergency sounds (like Police , Ambulance etc...), Computer interfacing projects via parallel port, game port and sound port, Intercom system etc.
- In addition to hardware projects I also did software designs. Initially I started writing software with Visual Basic, later switched to Delphi and Visual C++. Anyway I am much familiar with Delphi than Visual C++.
- Experienced in using software like Delphi , MS C++ (Open GL) , LabView,....etc.
- Developed a web site with couple of my friends other than this and it is available at www.geocities.com/pubuducg.
