I am working with Professor Ken Wallace and Jon-Paul Bingham. I am using Zebrafish embryos from Ken's lab at various stages of development and injecting the toxins from the Conus geographus into the embryos. There are 62 individual peptides from the one milking of the Conus geographus that I am working with. Each of these peptides may affect the embryos in different ways. Once the embryos are injected, I watch the embryos and record how the peptides react, both behaviorally and biologically on the embryos. By the end of this project I am hoping to be able to name each individual peptide on an HPLC profile and tell exactly how each peptide reacts biologically and behaviorally on the zebrafish embryos. My research interests are in the medical sciences, and I want to become a Physician Assistant.
