(1993) Visiting Scientist (Humboldt Fellow)
in Technische Universität München,
Weihenstephan, Freising, Germany

In 1993 I worked in the group of Professor H.-L. Schmidt (Department of General Chemistry and Biochemistry, Munchen Technische Universitat, the stay was supported by Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung, Germany). During this stay I continued my research in the field of monolayer-modified electrodes, electro- and bioelecrocatalysis. The main results of this period include:

monolayer immobilization of natural cofactor - pyrroloquinoline quinone, PQQ, on a Au electrode and application of PQQ-modified electrodes for electrocatalytic oxidation of NADH and reconstitution of a PQQ-dependent apo-enzyme (#52, #54, #55 in the publication list),

formation of molecular dyads and triads consisting of quinones with different redox potentials and covalently linked to a Au-electrode surface (#48 in the publication list),

alignment of protein molecules covalently immobilized on graphite electrodes  using covalent coupling via unique amino acid residuals (#51 in the publication list).

Unfortunately, Professor H.-L. Schmidt has already retired and his group doesn't exist any more. I lived in a small beautiful town Freising that I will never forget.

My stay in Germany was very pleasant, but I wanted back to Jerusalem
