- Can I repeat courses in which
I have earned a F, D+, or D?
- How do I go about repeating a course for which
I have earned one of these grades?
- How does this affect my academic record and standing?
- How long do I have to repeat a course?
- What happens if I repeat a course in which I originally
earned a 'D' in and fail it?
Yes. You may repeat courses in which you have earned letter grades
of F, D+, D.
First, you must again register and enroll in the course. Then you
must complete a "Course Repeat Card" which you can pick up in the
Student Administrative Services Office and return it to them.
The original grade will remain on your academic transcript permanently.
However, neither the credit hours nor quality points for the course
in which you had an D+, D, or F grade will be used in the calculating
the cumulative QPA when the course is repeated at Clarkson; only
the credit hours and quality points of the repeated course most
recently taken will be used. Thus, you can see, it is to your advantage
to repeat course work at Clarkson if you want it to increase or
affect your QPA.
There is no deadline for repeating courses, however, repeats are generally
processed at the end of each semester. (Note, that it is too late
after you have graduated, to improve your collegiate record after
the fact.)
The 'F' replaces the 'D' and you will be required to repeat the
course again!
