Abstract for your Paper (worth 10% of your paper grade)

 

Due October 15

 

To get you started with your research paper, please write a 200 –300 word statement (abstract) on the question your paper will examine. The paper is due during Finals Week and is worth 20% of your course grade.  Make sure your title is descriptive.

 

This abstract should contain an explanation of:

1)   what your subject area is (relevant to masculinity as discussed in this class)

2)   which question you will be looking at

3)   why this is interesting

4)   what hypothesis (gut feelings) you have about your research question

5)   how it relates to the theoretical perspectives discussed in this class

6)   what works you have considered at this point

 

There should be a minimum of 3 references that you have consulted. References should include books, articles, and, if available, internet resources.


References need to include the following information:

For books: author, year, title, publisher;

for articles: author, title, journal title, volume and issue nr, and pages;

for online resources: http, date retrieved, name of website, author, institution

 

Within the next few weeks, please schedule a meeting with the reference librarian to explore all the possibilities of the library.
