Description:
- The design for the proposed Student Center came from input that was collected from students, staff administrators, faculty, trustees, alumni, and vendors/operators. Site alternatives have been considered, analyzed, and compared; a site has been identified; see the Clarkson University website http://www.clarkson.edu/masterplan.
- A program of space needs has been generated; many space sizes have been graphically tested and determined.
- A series of Student Services offices, which would be convenient to locate in the Student Center, have been identified as lower priority than student social and recreational activities, student organizations and food services venues. These offices are to be included in the program, either within the structure or possibly as a complementary, adjacent structure (bridging to the Educational Resource Center (ERC)). The intent is to construct the Student Center with the Student Services offices, or the Student Center and adjacent Student Services offices facility simultaneously.
Status:
Construction on the new Student Center is underway. Pizzagalli is currently working on placing the structural steel in order to enclose the building before winter. Concrete will be poured for the floors in the next few weeks as well. The construction is progressing quickly in order to finish by the August 2010 completion date.
