What is rushing?
Rushing is defined as a recruitment process where the fraternity holds rush events to get interest within the house. During typical rush events, students meet the brothers and mingle with them. This is a perfect opportunity to learn about Greek life especially TDK and the brothers within this prestigious affiliation. To conclude, come kick it with the brothers and have a good time, and most importantly be yourself!
What is pledging?
In order to be a potential candidate to pledge one must take part in the rushing process. Once you have established yourself as a potential pledge, you are given a bid on Bid Day to pledge the fraternity. Once the bid is accepted you now are a pledge member of the fraternity and must go through a six week pledging process before becoming a brother. As a pledge, you are required to take part of the traditions that many brothers before you have participated in. Lastly, the pledging process is very memorable as well as unforgettable.
What are the advantages of joining TDK?
The best part about TDK is experience college life with brothers by your side. Once in TDK, your social network has expanded greatly and you are in contact with hundreds of brothers that can provide many great opportunities for you. Want a resume builder? Having a fraternity on your resume will help you stick out from the competition because recruiters like students who are active socially as well as in the community. If living on campus is old and boring come move into the House. This is where you truly experience fraternity life as well as save your parents money when paying the tuition.
How do I get in contact with the fraternity?
Our fraternity house is located on 29 Bay Street in Potsdam, NY. We are open to meeting students who are interested in our house. Stop by to meet the brothers and get a house tour, we won’t mind. Also, our website can be located off the Clarkson network: http://www.clarkson.edu/~tdk. Feel free to contact Rush Chairman, Nicholas de Almeida, at dealmen@clarkson.edu or contact TDK directly at tdk@clarkson.edu.
Would I need to move into the fraternity house?
The simple answer to this is no! Currently, there are a good number of brothers that remain on campus. However, it is preferred that as a brother you move into the house because that is where one truly experiences life at TDK. Also, it is important that we have enough brothers living at the house in order to keep it operating. Moving into the house is a great decision as well as a money saver.
Does Clarkson have any requirements to pledge?
Yes. For male fraternities, it is required that the potential pledge has sophomore standing and has a 2.5 cumulative grade point average. If these requirements are met and a certain individual receives a bid and accepts, he is eligible to pledge.
