Article I - Meetings
Section 1- Meetings
Executive board and committee chair meetings of the Clarkson University Chapter of the Society of Professional Women (hereinafter referred to as SPW) shall be held once a week in Snell 211, or at a place determined by the Executive Board.
Section 2 – Workshops/Functions
A printed list of the semester’s prospective workshops/functions shall be developed and distributed to the members of SPW upon completion of the third officers’meeting of each semester.
Article II – Committees
Section 1 – Establishment of a Committee
The establishment of committees shall not constitute approval of any action taken by a committee except upon authorization of SPW, nor shall it constitute a grant for the expenditure of money unless such a grant is authorized by the approval of SPW.
Section 2 – Ad –hoc Committees
An ad-hoc committee may be established by a 2/3 vote of SPW, and must be listed in these by-laws upon establishment of permanent need.
Section 3 – Committee Chairpersons
Committee chairpersons shall be elected by a majority vote of the committee members.
Article III – Finances
Section 1 – Fiscal Year
The fiscal year shall be July 1 through June 30. The treasurer shall report each semester on the financial standing of the chapter.
Section 2 – Membership Dues
The membership dues for SPW shall be determined by a majority vote of active members on the same date as officer elections for the following year’s members. The new executive board will preside over this determination of dues. The members of SPW can also elect not to have dues.
Section 3 – Funding
Funding for the SPW activities shall come partially from the Office of the Women’s Programs Coordinator. The treasurer shall maintain close contact with the coordinator to insure proper allocation of expenses.
Section 4 – Expenditures
- A record of all expenditures shall be used as a basis for the following year’s budget.
- There will be no payments to members for expenditures made for the organization unless the President has previously approved those expenditures.
Article IV – Programs
Section 1 – Events per Semester
SPW is expected to sponsor a minimum of eight events per semester.
Article V – Amendments
Amendments to these Chapter by-laws shall be made by proposal at a duly authorized meeting of SPW, and acceptance by a majority of the active members present.
