What is OXE?

The Society of Omega Chi Epsilon promotes high scholarship, encourages original investigation in chemical engineering and recognizes the valuable traits of character, integrity, and leadership.  The Society serves both undergraduate and graduate students within the Chemical Engineering Department.  It encourages meaningful student-faculty dialogue within the department.  Clarkson's Delta Chapter is the fourth oldest, and second oldest active chapter, founded in 1941.

National Information:

Omega Chi Epsilon was founded at the University of Illinois in 1931.  In 1967, the Society became a member of the Association of College Honor Societies. There are currently 69 active chapters, with a few new chapters being added each year.  Most of the 20,000 society members nationwide are juniors and seniors, although membership is open to graduate students and faculty as well.

Eligibility:

  • Juniors who have completed three hours of chemical engineering course work and are in the upper one-fourth of their class.
  • Seniors who are in the upper one-third of their class.
  • Graduate students who have completed at least nine credit hours of course work.
