| 2/6/05 |
draft of constitution:
addition of code of ethics
still
hasn't been submitted to
CUSA for Clarkson's approval
All additions are hand written, and should be formally added tonight
meeting times this semester:
biweekly sunday afternoons at two p.m..
Off-track, Jay has a small ibook in his room.... very useful, but very
smelly
yes... smelly the LaCe HDD is very loud,
too, but the
machine... oh does it smell (of B.O. and plastic). the
machine
isn't his, but he's borrowing it. how to stop it from
smelling?
On-track, If the ERC is unresponsive to our meeting needs (for any
given meeting),
the Internet Teaching Lab. may provide what we need. Some are
partial to Snell rooms because of their setup (snell 121,
214).
for future meetings, we probably need to improve attendance
Many vendors support user groups.... we need to designate someone to
'bug' vendors for freebies. Software, books, etc,
They want
us, why not solicit their goods. Does anyone want to be in
charge
of that?
Also, such a person could be helpful in recruiting new members
Ideas for fund-raising :
sell discs of shareware and compiled free software for other mac
users. (vendors would want to know before we do such a
thing) Maybe even include OIT
Member Dues:
CUSA loves Dues... it'd be easier to collect nominal dues and make it
easy to get around them then to argue for elimination of dues from the
stock constitution.
If they help us get recognition, dues are ok. Membership is
open
to anyone associated with Clarkson.
Other things to work on:
User Reviews: small presentations (on the MUG site)
<http://digitalsoup.bounceme.net/mug/index.html>
These notes will be available on said site
Survey: List any areas you (mug member) has
specialty in
1. education in teaching mac use
2. cad and 3d graphics
3. cd, dvd, music, garage band,
multimedia
4. desktop publishing and
reports and excel
5. programming (matlab is the crack
whore of
programming languages)
6. hardware and specific peripherals
7. networking
Any experience could be valuable to other members and macusers
worldwide
Where does our organization's skill lie.
What is your favorite shareware, freeware, commercial, and what one
thing would you want ported?
Be original, and useful:
also, reasons why iChat sucks:
1. poor support for groups
2. needs key commands for away messages
3. needs to time-stamp incoming messages
4. needs to play nice with all file
transfers
5. needs to display away
messages long enough
to read (and maybe view
gifs in
profiles)
6. needs to support profiles
7. needs to have an option to not log out
during fast
user switching
surveys will also be used for attendance purposes
Next Meeting: (two weeks)
review on QuickSilver
Question: seemless connection between mac
and pc to
mount one's HDD on the other's desktop (all encrypted personal file
sharing).

<-- tutorial
on making a vpn on XP (evil but necessary)

you're just
gonna have to open it to see what it is. |

contention.
