  • Briarcliff tournament news: Over the weekend Liz Levine, Tim Unrath and Charlie Davidson tore up an open tournament in Briarcliff, NY. Everyone brought home at least one trophy. A slightly more detailed report is available, and photos will be posted soon.

  • Pick up your club t-shirts: We will be at the courts at tonight at 7 with the shirts. Come with cash or check to pick them up.

  • Dues information updated: if you have not paid club dues, there is a dollar sign next to your name on the ladder. To get your ranking back, you must pay dues. Find an officer for instructions on how to pay your $10!

  • This weekend's tourney news: There will be short "opening ceremonies" for this weekend's tournament at 5 pm. This includes a quick demonstration on the rules of the game. Matches start immediately afterwords. Therefore, show up at 5 to get the rules overview and to find out when your matches are scheduled (you may have to play right away). Anyone with concerns or questions should e-mail Jason Keleher
  • A report from Octoberfest: Several Penn State and RPI students joined past and present CURC members in Albany. Fifty-year-old hall-of-famer Ruben Gonzalez won the tournament. A slightly more detailed report is available here.

  • Local racquetball tournament announced! The Balls to the Wall Racquetball tournament will be held Nov. 1-3. This event is sponsored by SigEp, the CURC, CUSA, CUB, and others. All proceeds will be donated to charity. There will be a tournament shirt, lunch, prizes, etc. Find out more by heading to the tournament page or directly to the Balls to the Wall page. This is defintely an event not to be missed!

  • T-Shirt information updated. Those of you waiting for t-shirts (it should be all of us) have been in the dark after multiple screw-ups and miscommunications. The bottom line is that we're ready to place the t-shirt order; all we need are numbers and sizes. To see the t-shirt design and to request your shirt go here. The deadline for requesting your shirt is midnight Wednesday 10/29/02.
  • Clarkson places 2nd at Maryland! Clarkson beat the third-place Virginia Tech team by 130 points. Congratulations to all that played!

  • Octoberfest: a USRA Tournament in Albany in one week (10/25-10/27)! This is an open tournament which means anyone is eligible to come and play. The first event is $35 (covers tournament shirt and food), second and third events are $15 each. E-mail Charlie before tuesday morning to sign up!   • Clarkson played in an ECRC tournament in Maryland over the weekend. The results have yet to be calculated, but Clarkson had a strong showing, led by Enrico Becerra's third place win. Other members of the team were Charlie Davidson, Alan Bankus, Byron Raych, Jon Canfield, Brian Kelleher, Josh Kirk, Liz Levine and Ashley Wright. More to come when the results are updated.   • Challenge ladder rules have been updated. In addition challenge notification has been automated. Hopefully this will make challenging less confusing and easier to do.

  • Equipment order has come in! The best way to get your equipment is to show up tonight at 7:00 at the courts. We will have your equipment, and will hand it you. Come prepared with cash or check, as we won't give you your stuff without payment. If you don't make it tonight, you can contact Alan Bankus (x-3720) and set up a time to get your equipment. You'll have to work around his schedule, however.

  • Travel tournament interest meeting: A physics exam and the career fair got in the way of our meeting. We will be holding another meeting Wednesday at 7:00. Anyone is welcome to show up and learn more about travelling to tournaments (both ECRC and USRA tourneys). The time to act is now: the competitive racquetball season begins in October! All skill levels welcome. You can get more information by e-mailing one of the officers as well.
  • Racquet Demo Night: Thanks to everyone who showed up. We all learned more than we expected to about racquet technology and the E-Force racquet line. Special thanks to Steve Debraugh and Vic Sacco for setting up the event.

  • Equipment order deadline announced: 9/22/02. This optimizes the time available to decide what to buy versus the time we all have to wait to get our equipment. The order should come in mid-week next week. Head to the order page to place your order or find out more.

  • Results from this weekend's tournament are up at the tournament page. Thanks to everyone that played! The draws were small, but we still were able to get a lot of racquetball in.

  • Draw and start times have been set for this weekend's tournament. Matches will be played from 5-8 on friday and from 10-3 on saturday. No sunday matches. We are also planning on having pizza friday night, as well as bagels saturday morning. Go to the tournament page to find your start time or view the draw

  • The first USRA and ECRC tournaments of the season have been announced! The annual Octoberfest tournament is taking place in Albany October 25-27. Clarkson's racquetball Team will travel to Maryland October 11.

  • Our apologies to anyone trying to access the website last thursday. A mix-up caused the CURC website to be temporarily homeless. Everything is back up running smoothly, with the new official URL as www.clarkson.edu/clubs/curc/ (the old one still works, too)

  • Interest meeting announced! Meet at court 4 at 7 PM on thursday (tomorrow) to get all your questions answered from the people running the club. Learn more about member benefits, tournaments, discount prices, rules, etc.
  • Courts are open! Court hours start at 7, although the officers will be at the Activities Fair from 7-8.

  • Clarkson court refinishing: They look great, but as of last night the clarkson courts were still closed. Let's hope that they are open by 7 tonight! (Court hours will resume as soon as the courts are open.) In addition to the great refinishing job, all courts now feature receiving and drive serve lines!

  • Interest Meeting to be announced. Yes, this website is designed to give you as much information as possible about the club, racquetball in general, and the people that run it. Regardless, we will be holding an interest meeting somewhere in the first two weeks of school. This will be a loosely organized event in which you can learn anything you don't know about racquetball at Clarkson University. In the meantime, feel free to stop by the court hours, play with the officers, and see what the CURC is about.
  • Fall 2002 court hours (Tues-Thurs 7-10 PM) starts Tuesday 8/27. Court hours are times when racquetball courts are reserved for club members. The first two weeks are open for anyone to stop by and learn more.
