Clarkson University Bowling Club League Upcoming Bowling Events Club Officers

The Clarkson University Bowling Club is a great organization to join and meet people in a fun, relaxed atmosphere on one evening every week. Each Wednesday evening at 9:30 p.m., the club meets at Market Lanes, 144 Market Street, heading North from Downtown towards the main shopping district. The main purpose of the club is in supporting the league that the club has run over many years, as a break from studies at Clarkson. The league is United States Bowling Congress sanctioned, although there is no prize fund collected during the year or prizes at the end of the season. Traditionally the league has been four-man teams, formed usually during the first week of bowling, although teams have formed during the second and third week of each season as people became aware of the club.

New in 2006-2007, the club is looking into the possibility of tournaments, and with the likely formation of a league at SUNY Potsdam to coinicide with ours, there will be new opportunities to come out and try bowling if you never have before or rediscover it once again. On the league, averages range from about 80 to almost 210, with the overall league average traditionally resting around 140. Historically, there are no dominant majors in the club, and membership usually has dictated at least eight lanes in recent years, although there have been years in which twelve lanes were in use by the Clarkson University Bowling Club's league.

Best part of the League: $5.00 a week gets you three games and shoes!

Normally, even at Market Lanes's modest pricing, it costs $10.50 to get three games and shoes. Many towns are even higher priced, so considering that for less than half the price, you can get out of your dorm room, and have a little fun for a couple of hours each week, seems to me like money well spent...
