About CUOC
Clarkson University’s Outing Club, or CUOC, is the most active club on campus. Our members take the outdoors seriously and we welcome anyone who shares our passions, or is interested in trying new things. Unlike many clubs on campus, we are fully active all year round. We have as much to do in the middle of winter as we do during warm weather in the fall and spring. When the weather is fair we pursue a variety of activities including camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing, white water and flat water kayaking, and rock climbing. Caving is popular in the summer as well, but since it’s done underground, we’re able to spelunk all year long. For the cold weather enthusiast, we continue camping and hiking, but we add ice climbing, back-country skiing (alpine and telemark), snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, and an annual winter festival.Major club trips are organized frequently, but our members take matters into their own hands as well. Some form of adventure, whether large or small, is pretty much guaranteed every weekend, as well as during the week. A major advantage to CUOC is the wealth of knowledge our members posses. If you are new to the outdoors, or have never tried any of these activities, we have someone who can show you the ropes, literally. In addition, we have a huge stock of gear; everything from backpacks and stoves, to ice and rock climbing gear. While you can rent this gear as a non-member, CUOC members get hugely reduced rates on our excellent selection of equipment.
We have a recently revamped website for your convenience and enjoyment. For existing members, check out what’s new, and for those new to the site, take some time to get a feel for who we are, and what we do. If you would like some help using part of the site you may choose to look at the FAQ.
